From the Richmond Dispatch, 9/26/1862, p. 2, c. 6

STRAYED OR STOLEN – From in front of Capt. Epps's, corner of 1st and Baker streets, on Thursday morning, 25th inst., a light bay MARE, somewhat sway-backed, long bodied, thin mane, and about 14 ½ hands high, and had on a McClellan saddle, and English saddle blanket, with my name upon it. A liberal reward will be paid for her return to me, or the conviction of the thief, if stolen.
