Military Execution. – James Broderick, formerly a member of the Letcher Artillery, was executed at Camp Lee on Saturday last, in conformity with sentence of Court Martial, for desertion. The details of the affairs were entrusted to Assistant Provost Marshal Booker of the Western District. – The condemned man arrived upon the ground between 11 and 12 o’clock, and the last rites of the Catholic Church were administered by the Rev. Father Mulliken; after which his eyes were bandaged and he several times uttered the words “good bye.” A squad of the President’s Guard, detailed for the purpose then fired and Broderick fell, pierced by six bullets. His death was almost instantaneous.
