The Miss Van Lew, who has been appointed by Gen. Grant, and confirmed by the Senate, as Postmistress of Richmond, who will be remembered by our soldiers and commanders as having rendered great service to our army during its operations before that city, and to our prisoners in Libby. Her principal supporter was Senator Pomeroy, who pressed her appointment, not on the ground of her services to the Union, but as a practical enforcement of the rights of women. Two other ladies were appointed to post offices at the same time.
