Escaped from Prison. – Thomas H Kerr, the man who was examined a few days since before C. S. Commissioner W. F. Watson, for forging and attempting to pass a check for $1,620 on the Confederate Treasury, and who was sent on for trial before the District Court on the 15th inst, escaped from the county jail on Saturday, in company with a man charged with stealing four ducks. It appears that the jailor had been to see if everything was safe in the building and was returning when he was stealthily followed by the two prisoners till he arrived at the front gate. Here, by a bold push, they dashed him aside and knocked down his assistant at the gate, and commenced a rapid flight. Pursuit being made, the chicken thief was caught, the forger escaped.
