Big Navy Department Order Given Tredegar Iron Works
Will Manufacture Bullets and Target Shells for Government, According to Report – May Require Much Larger Force.

A LARGE order for products used by the Navy Department has been given the Tredegar Iron Works, and work on bullets and target shells in the order has been started, it was reported on good authority last night. This order is regarded as among the most important business deals put through in Richmond recently.

In addition to recalling all its old force, it is believed the Tredegar Company will augment its forces since the order from the Navy Department is reported to be of sufficient size to call for considerable work.

Neither denial nor affirmation was given the report by Archer Anderson, Jr., president of the Tredegar Company, when called last night. Mr. Anderson stated that information was not given on the business of the company, and that he was the only one authorized to make a statement if any was to be issued.

J. R. A. Hobson, vice-president of the company, was reported at his home to be on a trip to New York, and to be scheduled to reach Richmond this morning at 7 o’clock.
