IT’S TYRANNY

Miss E. L. Van Lew has written her annual letter to the City Treasurer. It is as follows: “Demand having been made upon me for the State taxes for the year of 1896 I the usual form prescribed by law – and all woman having been excluded from either assessing the taxes or making the laws under which the assessments were ordered, I enter my solemn protest against taxation without representation.”
