A CUTTING AFFRAY. – Last night about 9 o’clock, a serious affray took place on Chimborazo Hill, at the corner of Thirty-second and Broad streets, at the house of John Phelps, white, in which James Jackson was badly cut with a knife on the right side of the neck and left side of the face. Warrants were subsequently sworn out by a witness charging John and Sterling Phelps with the cutting. Sergeant Wren arrested John and locked him up at the First police station, but at a late hour Sterling had not been found. John will appear before the Police Court this morning. It is said that Jackson’s wounds are very dangerous. He was attended last night by Dr. Vest.
