From the Richmond Dispatch, 3/16/1863, p. 2, c. 2

DIED,

…On the 15th inst., at 8 ½ o’clock, at her mother’s residence, on 5th street, from the effects of the explosion at the Laboratory, Miss MARY ROLAND, aged 14 years and 3 months.

To her bereaved mother, brother, sisters, and friends, there is a consolation in having reason to believe that she had a hope beyond this vale, and that her redeemed spirit basks in the sunlight of a better world, with Him who doeth all things well. May God soothe and console them, whose hearts will so freely bleed by this sad bereavement. Mary had gained for herself the love and esteem of her acquaintances, which will never be obliterated.

But, no, she is not lost -
In Heaven her spirit shines;
While here the frame once tossed,
In hope of life reclines.
Her way may others tread
Upon that Saviour trust,
And find, as she, the dead
Have comforts in the dust.                                          A FRIEND.

Her funeral will take place from St. Peter’s Cathedral, at 3 o’clock this afternoon.
